The Fires of Midway: The Carrier Battles of 1942

Players command carrier task forces in a tactical simulation of the 1942 Pacific carrier battles. Each scenario recreates a specific engagement — Coral Sea, Midway, Eastern Solomons, and Santa Cruz — or links them in a campaign where resources and replacements carry over. Gameplay centers on locating enemy fleets, organizing strike groups, scrambling fighters, and resolving air attacks and fighter combats. Squadrons must contend with anti-aircraft fire, combat air patrols, and fuel limitations that affect return and recovery. Multiple scenarios offer short to medium playtimes and optional advanced rules for operational detail.
