Traces of War

A two-player operational wargame covering Axis and Soviet operations in the aftermath of the Kursk battle, spanning August 1943 to March 1944. Players command division- to corps-level formations on a large-map hex grid where each turn represents one month and hexes equal about 12.5 miles/20 km. Play uses a chit-pull activation system and a mix of counters and round markers to resolve movement, combat, and supply as a mobile German defense faces a major Soviet offensive. Components include two full-color maps, multiple countersheets, player aids, a rulebook, and a solitaire track for solo play; an opaque cup is required for chit drawing. Complexity is medium-low and playtime runs about 3–6 hours.
