You start with your investigator’s printed skill, add any icons committed from hand and other modifiers, reveal a chaos token and apply its modifier, and you succeed if your modified skill value is equal to or greater than the test’s difficulty; committed cards are discarded after the test. Yes — performing any action while engaged other than Evade, Fight, or activating a Parley/Resign ability causes each ready enemy engaged with you to make an attack of opportunity, and engaged enemies’ attacks are then resolved in the enemy phase. (Rulebook p.9; Rules Reference p.25)

A Revelation ability initiates immediately when the encounter or weakness card is drawn by an investigator; a Forced ability triggers automatically at its specified timing point (often phrased “after…”), following the timing rules for simultaneous effects. (Rules Reference p.3)

Advancing the act is done by the investigators as a group spending the number of clues shown on the act card, it does not cost an action and may be done during any investigator’s turn; spent clues are returned to the general token pool and the act card is flipped to its “b” side and resolved. No — cards with the Fast keyword do not cost an action to play and, because they don’t cost an action, they do not provoke attacks of opportunity; a Fast card may be played whenever its play instructions allow. (Rulebook p.11; Rules Reference pp.11–12)
