Baseball Highlights: 2045

Assemble a futuristic baseball roster made up of human Naturals, cybernetically enhanced pitchers ('Borgs), and batting-only Robots. Players draft and play cards representing individual plays, alternating six-card mini-games that simulate a game's highlights without full innings or outs. Each card can trigger offensive and/or defensive effects, so players balance team-building decisions with in-game tactics to counter opponents’ hits or push their own scoring. Between mini-games, players hire free agents to modify their roster, and the match is decided by who wins the most mini-games in the series.

I love this game, partly because I like baseball and this game is especially thematic. There are two or three cards that confused me but I think for the most part is straight forward and plays quickly. One downside is that I wish I could recruit players more often than between rounds as by the time I get any good players in my line up the series is usually won by someone. Easy setup, play, and tear down make this a game that will easily make it to the table.

I liked it better than I thought I would. However, still not a game I plan on picking up or seeking out plays.
