Combat Commander: Pacific

2008 · Wargame

Combat Commander: Pacific

Simulates small-unit infantry combat in the Pacific and Indian Ocean theaters during World War II using a card-driven command system. Players issue orders via Fate cards, activate teams and squads, and resolve firefights, assaults, and special actions such as banzai charges, beach landings, river crossings, and hidden movement. The game models national differences with distinct Japanese, US (Marine-focused), and Commonwealth forces, plus weapons and rules for BARs, Thompsons, mortars, aircraft, scouts, treetop snipers, caves, recon, and mortar spotting. Scenarios and a random scenario generator set objectives across twelve double-sided maps; victory depends on objective control, enemy losses, and unit exits.

Tighter and less random play compared to Europe. Loses some cinematic effect, but gains in strategic play
