Combo Fighter

2019 · Card Game

Combo Fighter

Players take the role of rival combatants invited to a high-stakes tournament on an offshore oil rig. Each player fields a unique 50-card deck and a roster of named combos that represent their fighter’s moves and tactics. Combat resolves through simultaneous card plays and combo execution; successful hits force opponents to discard and thin their deck, and the first fighter to deplete their cards loses. Games are quick, rules are streamlined for fast arcade-style matches, and multiple fighter match-ups offer differing playstyles and strategies.

Card fighting game that emulates the classic fighting videogames. PROS - Easy to teach. Extremely easy compared to something like BattleCON. - Satisfying when landing combos. - It gives the feeling of smashing buttons and feels almost as fast as the videogames. CONS - It doesn't really convey the feeling of learning a fighter and its combos. It's more about smashing buttons and trying to overwhelm your opponent. - Its rock-paper-scissors mechanism is a bit too obvious. Sometimes it just feels like playing that. - It is way lighter than it seems because of the size of its box. Not more than a filler to kill some time, because there is almost no strategy in it.
