Players command the armies of nearly forty nations across Europe and the Near East, directing army-level units, reinforcements, special abilities, and entrenchments through the war from 1914 to 1918. Battles use an off-map display rather than a traditional combat results table, while random events introduce political crises, revolutions, uprisings, disease, espionage, and notable wartime figures. The revised edition expands the combat, production, manpower, and minor-country systems while retaining a manageable scope for a strategic-level campaign.
