2009 · Deduction
Detective
Players take hidden roles as citizens aligned with either the Innocents or the Guilty. Across a series of trials, the group debates and votes to execute suspected criminals, while Guilty players conceal their identities and attempt to have Innocents convicted. Murderers secretly kill a citizen after each trial. One player serves as the Detective, working to identify the Guilty before they eliminate the city’s citizens. If the Detective is targeted, a final round begins in which the Detective may shoot suspected players, but killing an Innocent gives the Guilty victory. Additional roles, including heroes, lawyers, vigilantes, serial killers, and corrupt officials, provide special abilities and further opportunities for negotiation, deception, and deduction.
