The Resistance

2009 · Negotiation

The Resistance

Players take hidden roles as loyal operatives or enemy spies and try to complete a series of missions over several rounds. Each round opens with group discussion; a rotating Leader proposes a team for the mission, the table votes to approve or reject that team, and approved team members secretly submit support or sabotage votes. Mission outcomes and voting behavior provide evidence for deducing identities. Play continues until one side completes three mission outcomes that favor them.

Juego de roles ocultos en el que la Resistencia deberá completar al menos 3 de los 5 objetivos. Sencillo y divertido. Un clásico para grupos de 5 a 10 jugadores.

52 It depends heavily on the group you play with... It can be very funny or just boring as hell because some player don't know what to do and can't remember the simple rules.

Rules questions

Answered from the rulebook by Ludoya's rules assistant.

Can I reveal my character card to prove I'm Resistance?

No — a player's Character Card may not be revealed at any point in the game, nor may the character art be discussed (page 1).

Can the Leader put themself on the mission team?

Yes — the Leader assigns Team cards to any players, including himself; note that a player may only be assigned one Team card (page 1).

What happens if the team vote is tied?

A tied vote is a rejection: the proposed Team fails and the Leader passes clockwise to the next player to propose a team (page 2).

How many Fail cards are needed to fail a mission?

A mission fails if one or more Fail cards are played, except the 4th mission in games of 7 or more players requires at least two Fail cards to fail (page 2).

What happens if five proposed teams are rejected in a single round?

If five Mission Teams are rejected in a single round (five failed votes), the Spies immediately win the game (page 2).

Can Resistance players play Fail cards, and can Spies play Success cards?

Resistance Operatives must select the Mission Success card; Spies may select either the Mission Success or Mission Fail card (page 2).
