DropMix

2017 · Card Game

DropMix

Players use a board and a deck of music cards to layer tracks and create live mixes from stems of popular artists. Gameplay alternates between competitive rounds where players score by playing and chaining cards to reach a target, cooperative rounds where the group fulfills timed requests to light up the board, and a freeform mode for building and tweaking mixes. The app-driven system reads card placement and controls which clips play, so decisions about timing, combos, and card placement shape the evolving soundtrack. Expansions add more artist cards and playlists to broaden the mixing possibilities.

Uh...freestyle mode is pretty boring. Maybe I'm just a curmudgeon that hates all the music, but I hate all the music. I wonder what it would be like with, like, good music. I don't know how the game is, but I can't see it being very interesting to me. I'm guessing this will get traded away.
