Pocket Rockets

2009 · Card Game

Pocket Rockets

Players take the roles of astronauts assembling rockets from colored base, fuselage, and tip cards. An assembly plant is formed from six location cards, and astronaut pawns move around the circle to collect parts, add them to rockets, take fuel, change direction, and perform other actions. Rocket tips provide special privileges, while fuel becomes less valuable as supplies run down. When the fuel is exhausted, the player with the most fuselages in completed rockets wins.

Nice little game with a small footprint. PROS - Veeery little box, allowing it to be carried easily. - Nice gameplay with little ruleset and components. CONS - Not very deep. - Has a big snowball effect. Players completing rockets can gain advantages, putting them even more on the lead. - I cannot imagine myself playing more than 2 games in a single session, and even the second one may be too much. It could get a little repetitive.
