The Third Winter: The Battle for the Ukraine September 1943-April 1944

OCS of the Battle of the Ukraine, September 1943 to April 1944. Soviet forces race to cross the Dnepr and break through German defenses, while Army Group South conducts an active defense and fighting retreat toward the Carpathian Mountains. Four Soviet Fronts must coordinate their offensives against German and Romanian forces, including two Panzer Armies. The campaign uses 5-mile hexes, 3- to 4-day turns, and units ranging from companies to corps. Players manage Front postures, air support, barrages, bridge demolitions and repairs, ferries, fortified headquarters, mechanized formations, and random events. The campaign includes the battles for Kiev, Korsun, Kamenets-Podolsky, and the splitting of Army Group South, along with several smaller scenarios.
