Salerno '43

A regiment/brigade-level simulation of the Allied invasion of mainland Italy in September 1943. British and American divisions land on the Bay of Salerno and attempt to hold and expand a tenuous beachhead while German mechanized divisions counterattack and seek to delay the advance. Players command battalion- to brigade-scale units on a daily turn scale over hexes representing roughly 2.3 miles (3.8 km). The game offers an 8-turn invasion scenario and a longer 24-turn campaign in which Allies must exit the north map edge before month’s end while Germans aim to buy time for defensive construction to the north. Uses a modified Normandy '44 ruleset with the same map and unit/time scales, and includes map, counters, rulebook, player aids, set-up charts and a six-sided die.
