Decisive Victory 1918: Volume One – Soissons

A tank-supported French and US offensive against German forces at Soissons in July 1918, opening the Second Battle of the Marne. Regiments and divisions maneuver across a 1-kilometer-per-hex map through six-hour day and twelve-hour night turns. The Entente player must coordinate artillery, command, reconnaissance, rest, and resupply before launching assaults, while managing powerful but short-lived armored units and limited offensive momentum. Rigid zones of control, extended threat zones, attritional combat, slow reorganization, defensive fallback movement, and persistent remnants model the difficulties of sustaining a breakthrough. The German player conducts a methodical retreat, choosing when to preserve forces and when to make a determined stand. The game has low counter density and supports solitaire play.
