The Custodes are sent to Melita, the island now known as Malta, to hunt a monster that is killing people and animals and to investigate the disappearance of Manilius Corvinus, a Custos who vanished after visiting the island twenty days earlier. The adventure explores whether the two events are connected. The 15-page scenario includes an encounter with a delegate of the Gupta Empire and the discovery of a new, powerful poison.
