Placement decisions must account for species interactions, a food chain where herbivores eventually produce meat for carnivores, and environmental features such as volcanoes and lakes. Zookeepers move to deliver food and optimize feeding efficiency. The game includes variable setup milestones that generate objectives; completing these milestones awards bonus cards that influence long-term strategy and scoring.
