Hive: The Mosquito
Adds mosquito pieces that enter play like other tiles and change how they move based on adjacent bugs. Once placed, a mosquito copies the movement ability of any neighboring insect it touches, and can change copied abilities as the board evolves. A mosquito alone or touching only other mosquitoes has no movement of its own and cannot move in that situation. If a mosquito moves onto the hive by climbing like a beetle, it retains beetle movement while on top and only reverts after climbing down.

How many pieces do we have if we add the Mosquito?
Each player has 12 pieces to play with when the Mosquito is added to a standard Hive set before the game begins. (Rulebook, p. 1)
Can I place the Mosquito differently from the other pieces?
No. The Mosquito is placed in the same way as the other pieces. (Rulebook, p. 1)
What movement does the Mosquito have?
Once in play, it copies the movement characteristics of any creature it is touching at that time. Its movement can therefore change throughout the game. (Rulebook, p. 1)
If the Mosquito touches more than one type of creature, which one can it copy?
It can take the movement characteristics of any creature it touches. For example, it may move as an Ant or a Beetle if it touches both. (Rulebook, p. 1)
Does the Mosquito stop copying a Beetle when it climbs onto the Hive?
No. If it moves as a Beetle on top of the Hive, it continues to move as a Beetle until it climbs down from the Hive. (Rulebook, p. 1)
