After the Aurora departs without them, survivors must cross a frozen, devastated mainland controlled by Athena, a rogue artificial intelligence coordinating drones and automated defenses. Players travel south across a new map, gathering resources, recruiting survivors, and fighting enemies while attempting to reach safety. This expansion adds Android survivors, Automatic Turrets, Nuclear Batteries that activate special convoy powers, and an Alert system tracking Athena’s attention. Rising Alert affects several aspects of the journey as players compete to survive the crossing.
