A human liver found on a Los Angeles beach is identified as belonging to East Coast mobster Benny “C-Note” Cinotelli. Private detectives or unconventional law-enforcement agents investigate whether the death was a hit, while the threat of retaliation and revenge risks escalating tensions throughout the area. The investigation is designed for 1950s crime or paranormal mystery campaigns using the GUMSHOE system.
