Unlock!: Epic Adventures

Three cooperative escape-room scenarios presented as a card game supported by a companion app that tracks time, validates codes, and supplies clues. Players search tableau-style scene cards, collect and combine items, and solve puzzles and riddles to advance through each scenario. Scenarios include a horror-movie premiere where players must survive the theatre; a temple of a dragon where disciples face seven trials; and a spy mission to uncover a mole within a secret organization.

Do we have to use the app to play?

Yes — the app is required to play; it manages the timer, penalties, codes, machines and hints (once downloaded no internet is needed to play) (p.6).

When a room card shows a number or letter, what do we do?

Find the card in the deck with that same number or letter on its back, take it, and reveal it faceup so everyone can see (p.2).

How do we combine two object cards — can we combine same‑color objects?

Add the two objects’ numbers and look for the summed number in the deck; by the golden rule a red number can only be combined with a blue number (and you cannot combine letters with numbers) (p.4).

What are those + modifiers and do they match cards in the deck?

Modifiers are +red or +blue numbers that never match a card; they must be added to a number of the opposite color following the golden rule (p.5).

How do machines work — do we manipulate them on the card or in the app?

You must enter the machine card’s number (or the number under a letter) into the app; the app then displays the machine and guides the steps to use it (p.5).

How do hints, hidden objects and penalties work?

Hidden objects can be revealed with the app’s Hidden Object button (or automatic help); hints are obtained in the app by entering a revealed card’s number (the app may give a second hint or the solution), and Penalty cards impose time loss and must be followed and discarded (pp.6, 4).
