Players take the roles of assistant directors in Méliès’s studio, assembling sets and coordinating actors to produce a pioneering film. On each turn, players place assistant pawns in the studio to take actions: acquire new scenes, collect materials for effects, prepare scenarios, dress and position actors, record scenes, edit footage, and hand-paint photograms. Points come from recorded scenes and painted frames; the player with the most points at the end is the most successful assistant.
