Four Lost Battles

This quadrigame covers four battles of the Dresden Campaign in August and September 1813: Grossbeeren, Katzbach, Kulm, and Dennewitz. It portrays the Allied strategy of avoiding Napoleon’s main army while engaging his subordinates, leading to four French defeats in a two-week period. Players command formations on four maps at a scale of 480 meters per hex and one hour per game turn. The system uses 560 two-sided units, deployment and arrival cards, and status cards to represent troop movements and battlefield conditions. Each battle can be played separately, with campaign analysis and designer notes included.
