Hot Streak

Players bet on a chaotic mascot race where animal mascots move, swerve, turn around, knock each other over, or run off the track and get disqualified. Each round players draft betting tickets (with a safe or risky side) and secretly add cards to the racing deck to influence the outcome. The deck is shuffled, a few cards are burned, and cards are revealed one by one to advance or disrupt racers until the podium is filled; later races start with players holding a random card before betting. Payouts follow final placements and play continues for three races, after which players total their money.

Do we draft betting tickets before each race or only once at the start?

You draft betting tickets before each race — players take turns drafting tickets (snake draft) prior to each race (pages 4, 16).

Can I sneak one of my cards into the racing deck each race?

Yes — each race you may sneak one card into the deck to try to influence the outcome (page 11); setup also explains building the racing deck and dealing cards (page 14).

If a mascot goes off the track or gets knocked out, is it disqualified and what happens to its place?

Yes — mascots that go off the track or are knocked out are disqualified; DQed mascots are placed on the podium in the order they were DQed and do not continue racing (pages 7, 25).

Can a moving mascot knock another mascot over during a swerve/collision, and does that cause a DQ?

Yes — Swerve cards can cause lateral collisions that make stationary mascots fall, and mascots knocked out by collisions are handled as knockouts/ DQs under the knockout rules (pages 22, 25).

When do we reshuffle the racing deck if it runs out mid-race?

When the deck runs out you reshuffle the discard pile to form a new deck and continue flipping cards for that race (page 24).

Does the third race pay differently than the others?

Yes — the third race has a special double-payout rule: ticket payouts for that race are doubled (page 27).
