New Angeles

Take the role of a powerful megacorporation vying for dominance in a sprawling, futuristic metropolis centered on a vital space elevator and lunar resources. Players manage credits, assets, and influence to expand their corporate reach, forge temporary alliances, and cut deals with rivals while pursuing profit through project development and economic maneuvering. Negotiation and deal-making are central, but players must also cooperatively or competitively keep civic unrest, crime, and disease contained to maintain the city’s stability and keep business flowing.

No llegamos a terminar la partida. Tenemos que lograr una serie de recursos (objetivos comunes), pero al mismo tiempo tenemos que mirar por nuestro propio beneficio (objetivos individuales y puntuación personal), al mismo tiempo que mantenemos a raya las protestas, huelgas y enfermedades de la población. De modo que estamos ante un semi-cooperativo. El juego no está mal, pero no me convenció. Desde lo injustísimo que me parece el hecho de que el jugador inicial pueda partir con hasta 6 puntos menos que el último (a se jugadores)... hasta lo repetitiva que es la mecánica del juego a base de propuestas de acciones y posteriores votaciones y, sobre todo, lo lento que se hace. Buenos componentes, diseño cuidado, pero monótono y pesado... sería el resumen.

Clever negotiation game with a fun twist in its scoring system. PROS - The game is solid. You cannot be sure about anything, scores are always tight and can change suddenly, the threat is always something to keep in mind... it won't get boring even if it's longer than your medium games. - Its mechanics are simple, it looks scarier than it is to teach and learn. - The scoring system forces you to think about the game in a different way, allowing weird alliances to happen and clever twists during the game. CONS - The theme and graphic design can be a bit bland. This does NOT happen if you're an Android fan: in that case you'll probably love every card in this game, as they give you a little more context onto certain previously unnamed characters and into the world and New Angeles itself. - The footprint is probably bigger than needed.
