Players captain coal barges on the Ruhr River during the rise of industrial transport, moving cargo downstream and selling coal for profit. Turns are resolved in phases where the upriver-most barge acts first; movement, loading, unloading and transfers at shallow or dammed sections drive decisions. Progress markers track developments such as improved navigation and lock construction that change routing and transfer costs over the course of play. The game emphasizes routing, timing and market decisions as players manage barge positions, deal with river obstacles that force cargo transfers, and optimize sales before rail transport overtakes river trade.
