You must join new components using the three connector types and only matching connectors legally join (one-pipe to one-pipe, two-pipe to two-pipe, universal to any); smooth sides cannot touch connectors and every connector touched must legally join if a piece touches multiple sides (page 5).

No — an engine’s exhaust must point to the rear and there can be no component on the square behind an engine, and similarly no component may occupy the square directly in front of a cannon’s barrel (page 6).

An exposed connector is any connector side not adjacent to another component; exposed connectors are allowed but increase the risk of damage during flight and affect bonuses (fewer exposed connectors is better) (page 8).

Double engines and double cannons count only if you spend battery tokens on them (a spent battery makes a double engine count as +2, and a double forward cannon with a battery counts as +2), and side/rear cannons count at half value; you must decide which doubles to use when calculating strength (page 11).

Enemies attack players in flight order starting with the leader and proceed down the line until defeated; if a player’s strength ties the enemy nothing happens to that player but the enemy is not defeated and moves on to the next player (page 12).

You may reserve up to two components on your board while building and they cannot be returned to the table, and any reserved component left unadded becomes the start of your discard pile and counts as a component lost (page 17).
