Oilfield

Players compete as 1930s oil entrepreneurs acquiring government leases, building derricks and developing fields across Texas. Each round players take a public action and a secret action to drill for oil and natural gas, expand refineries and storage, and manage supply chains. Production is sold to local and national markets or exported, while players buy and sell investment assets to increase their returns. Victory is determined by accumulated investments (victory points) at game end, awarded for efficient production, market timing and strategic infrastructure placement.

Light eurogame about oil extraction and trade. It achieves a nice equilibrium between interesting decisions and low complexity, being great as a gateway game. PROS - It is fairly easy to teach and understand for casual gamers (maybe still too much for total newbies). - It has a classical feeling, with the interest laying not on the mechanics, but on player's decisions. CONS - Probably too light to be the main game for people who is used to eurogames.
