1562: Beginning of a Tragedy

Three battles of the French Wars of Religion: Dreux, Vergt, and Le Bessat. This grand-tactical wargame uses area maps and counters representing formations of 100–500 soldiers or one to two guns. Players maneuver Catholic and Protestant forces, combining cavalry charges, pike assaults, artillery, and firearm support. The active player acts first, while the opposing player can react with fire, counter-charges, or tactical retreats. Optional rules cover caracoles, orders, stragglers, and looting.
