1999 · Abstract Strategy
Alcatraz
Players attempt to escape a prison island on a 9x9 grid by moving their pieces from one end of the board to the other. Pieces move any number of spaces horizontally or vertically, while a guard on each row moves toward a piece by the same number of spaces whenever it enters that row. A move is illegal if the guard catches the moving piece, but players can use these rules to threaten opponents. The first player to get three of their four pieces off the board wins.
