ZÈRTZ

1999 · Abstract Strategy

ZÈRTZ

Players compete to collect sets of colored marbles on a shrinking hexagonal board. Turns use either jumps—leaping one marble over one or more adjacent marbles to capture them—or placing a marble of any color onto the board and then removing an outer ring space, which progressively reduces the playing area. Captures and forced jumps create tactical exchanges where sacrificing marbles can advance set-building goals. The game ends as the board contracts and players score based on the colored-marble sets they have collected.
