Players take turns playing one or two creature cards to beat the current high play by either higher rank (number) or higher suit (color). The first qualifying play establishes whether subsequent plays are judged by number or color, though certain plays can leave that choice open for the next player. When unable or unwilling to beat the high play, players pass; once all but one player have passed, the trick ends and the last player to play leads the next trick. The objective is to shed all cards from hand and score points for emptying the hand, with repeated rounds played until a target score is reached.
