Culls

1999 · Abstract Strategy

Culls

Players aim to form a line of five chips while avoiding capture by flanking. The board starts with each player placing two chips lobster-side down on empty spaces, then players alternate placing one chip lobster-side down. When a placement exactly sandwiches two opponent chips, one of those sandwiched chips is flipped lobster-side up. On that player’s turn they must perform a cull: pick up their lobster-side-up chip and place it elsewhere lobster-side down as their entire move. Play continues until a player achieves five in a row.
