Havannah

1980 · Abstract Strategy

Havannah

A connection game played on a hexagonal board made of hex cells (commonly eight per side; larger sizes are used by experienced players). Players alternately place stones of their color to create one of three distinct winning shapes. A player wins by forming a fork that links any three sides of the board, a bridge that connects two corners, or a ring that creates a closed loop of stones enclosing at least one cell. Play focuses on building and blocking continuous chains of stones until one of these conditions is met.
