Indulgence
Players take tricks while alternating who sets the rule for each hand by choosing an edict that defines the objective for that round. Other players may opt to follow the edict or deliberately violate it; choosing to break the rule is treated as a sin that can earn an indulgence token which converts one card into an automatic winner. Hands play out as a trick-taking contest with shifting contracts and incentives: some contracts reward avoiding certain suits or ranks, others demand collection of particular cards. Players balance the risk and reward of committing sins, manipulate opponents’ choices, and collect gems to score points over multiple hands.
