Kingdom Rush: Rift in Time

Players cooperate to repel a Time Mage’s invasion by arranging polyomino damage tiles on enemy grids and deploying soldiers to block advancing hordes. Heroes with special abilities and upgradable Towers assist defense, but Towers can warp in and out of play or be passed between players to enable upgrades. A linked campaign presents escalating scenarios, introducing new enemies, events, and boss encounters while players work to close the Mage’s portals and survive successive waves.

Wow, what a disappointment. I love tower defense game on PC. And that's exactly how these games should be played. Digital, not analog. The boardgame is such a crap. The game plays you. You only react, you don't act. We lost twice scenario 2 in a row. And we didn't know what to do better. Especially the portal cards are very frustrating, you loose all your towers targeting it, wtf? It's more like a tetris game than a tower defense... and not a good tetris... Rulebook not good to learn to play the game. Have to search bgg forums to learn the rules and even then you ll still have unanswered questions. Game is a polyomino tile placement puzzle and it is fun. Seting up the game is a burden and what keeps me away from coming back to it. Have played it mostly with 4 players and believe that it is an easy game to beat even at the higher difficulty levels. Probably it does not scale well because with 2 players seems to be a much more difficult puzzle.
