Megaland

Players run through a video-game world, confronting monsters and occasional bunnies to collect treasures and coins. Each round players place a character on a level, draw a treasure, and reveal level cards that inflict damage; after each reveal players choose to leave and bank their treasures or press on to draw more treasures and face the next card. Taking damage equal to a character’s hearts knocks that player out of the round and costs unbanked treasure. After the run, players spend treasures to buy buildings that provide one-time or ongoing effects, gain jump tokens, extra hearts, coin income, and other benefits. The game ends after a round in which someone reaches 20 coins; the player with the most coins wins.

A simple push your luck game. Each player chooses to stay or go, then a tile gets flipped showing some amount of danger. If you chose 'stay' and have what it takes to make it through, you continue to the next round. If you 'went' you simply bank what you've collected so far. It's very much like Incan Gold with a few extra flourishes. It's cute, but I do wish the different characters each had some minor ability. It's a bit of a letdown the crazy old wizard guy is no different from anyone else. :star: Art, Iconography and components functional :nostar: Clever or interesting mechanisms :star: Reasonably low downtime between turns with mildly AP players :nostar: Multiple plays stay interesting :star: Low or mitigatable luck elements :star::star::nostar::nostar::nostar: Raw enjoyment
