NEOM
Draft cornerstones and production tiles while unlocking a tech tree of 17 goods to expand a neomodern city. Place tiles on a shared grid, matching roads that cannot be rotated and planning future connections as new, more powerful tiles become available. Players simultaneously draft and then place tiles, manage resource tiers to access higher-level buildings, and score points from city layout and unlocked developments. Each game changes strategic priorities through unique cornerstones and evolving access to goods, rewarding forward planning and networked road placement.

Evan4.6 This is a city building game where you draft three rounds worth of tiles. Each round selecting a tile and laying it into a space on your board so that the roads on the tile can lead to the center spot in your grid legally. Tiles can't be rotated, and certain tiles want to be near other particular tiles in order for them to score points, or at least prevent penalties. Some times come along with the ability to produce a type of resource, resources being a prerequisite for placing better tiles. When a resource tile is drafted, players get a little token that sits above their board letting everyone know that resource exists and is available, as you can pay other players to use their resources. These little tokens help one of the common problems with tableau builders where it can be hard to keep track of who has and who wants what. The pace of the game is crisp, and the mechanisms feel familiar and comfortable, particularly for someone like me who has played a lot of similar city building games. In particular I see decent influence from Warsaw: City of Ruins and Card City XL. Overall fantastic time. Two caveats. One, absolutely print out player aids for the game from BGG so you don't have to keep passing the rulebook for the small subset of tiles that have one time use icons. Secondly, in each of the three rounds there is a single "disaster" tile. This tile has a take-that ability that hits all other players for either money or tiles. There are tiles in the mix that mitigate the effects of these three tiles that are otherwise worth decent points. Using one of these tiles also eats your turn where you might otherwise be getting something useful for yourself. There's some theoretically interesting tension as to if these tiles get selected or not as there are a few interesting things to do with tiles other than playing them for their effects. However, if you have a trigger happy player, who plays it on the first turn of the new round, it can feel a little iffy. :star: Art, Iconography and components functional :star: Clever or interesting mechanisms :star: Reasonably low downtime between turns with mildly AP players :nostar: Multiple plays stay interesting :star: Low or mitigatable luck elements :star::star::star::nostar::nostar: Raw enjoyment
