Rolling America

Players each get a map of the United States divided into fifty abstract states grouped into six colored areas. On a turn two dice are drawn from a bag and rolled; each die lets all players write the rolled number on an empty state of the matching color, while a clear die can be placed in any color. Three times per game a non-clear die may be treated as any color. Neighboring states may not differ by more than one, and if a legal placement is impossible a player must mark an X in a state of the die’s color. Rounds proceed after six dice draws, with the bag refilled and play repeating for eight rounds total. Special actions allow ignoring the neighbor restriction a limited number of times and reusing a die within a region. Alaska and Hawaii are disconnected areas with no adjacency constraints. The player with the fewest Xs after eight rounds wins.
