2006 · Abstract Strategy
Qwirkle
Players build lines of wooden tiles on a flat surface, matching either color or shape (but not both) and avoiding duplicate tiles within a line. On a turn, a player places one or more tiles in a single straight line adjacent to existing tiles so that each tile matches the attribute of the line. Scoring equals one point per tile placed plus any adjacent tiles counted along the formed rows and columns; completing a full set of six distinct shapes or colors in a line awards a six-point bonus. Players draw back to six tiles from a shared bag. The game ends when the bag is empty and one player plays their last tile; highest score wins.
