Tavarua

Players take on the role of surfers in a contest, choosing a board and paddling out into a shifting break to find rideable waves. Play proceeds over short rounds: waves advance toward shore, players simultaneously play cards to paddle, catch waves, and adjust balance, then a wave card resolves. Catching and riding a wave requires matching position in the break and playing cards that both score points and move a balance token; if balance moves off the board a wipeout occurs. Each ridden wave is scored from cards played for that ride, but only top scores per board type count. The game ends when the wave deck is exhausted and trophies are awarded to the highest scorers.

Cool theme and great mechanics that really make the players feel like their surfing the sea. It feels a bit multi-solitaire but its fun to play.

  • Ricky Lineberger5.2

Only played at lower player counts. Might be better with more.
