Virgin Queen

A grand-strategy simulation of European military, political and religious conflict in the late 16th century. Players take control of one or more major powers—Ottoman, Spain, England, France, Holy Roman Empire and the Protestant coalition—and manage armies, navies, diplomacy and domestic affairs across a detailed map. Gameplay is card-driven and emphasizes religion, diplomacy and global expansion: players resolve conversions and rebellions, buy influence with minor courts, arrange dynastic marriages, sponsor cultural and scientific patronage, conduct espionage and send fleets on oceanic expeditions to seize plunder and found colonies. Multiple scenarios scale play for different player counts and session lengths.
