Winter Kingdom

2020 · Territory Building

Winter Kingdom

Players build a kingdom on a modular winter map by placing houses and forts on terrain matching their personal terrain card. Each turn a player must place three houses (or forts, which count as two) and, when possible, place them adjacent to previously placed pieces. Players manage gold to buy and upgrade persistent ability cards, which provide one-use-per-turn effects, and earn additional income according to a shared economy card. Each game adds variability with three scoring condition cards and a twist card that change endgame goals. The game ends when one player runs out of houses and forts; players score against the revealed objectives and for having the most houses adjacent to each castle.

A different game experience than Kingdom Builder. Not so "blocking" concerns since it's easier to move and replace meeples everywhere. French fully illustrated review : https://www.adayagame.fr/famille/366-test-du-jeu-winter-kingdom
