Ariete: The Battle of Bir el Gubi, Libya November 1941

This tactical wargame covers the Italian Ariete Division’s defense of Bir el Gubi, Libya, on November 19, 1941. The Italian player conducts a mobile defense around prepared Bersaglieri positions, using artillery, anti-tank weapons, and delayed tank reinforcements against the attacking British 22nd Armoured Brigade. The Commonwealth player commands an armor-focused force attempting to break through a well-led combined-arms defense in open desert terrain. Turns represent 30 minutes, with units ranging from infantry platoons and vehicle platoons to individual support weapons and sections. Twelve scenarios cover focused engagements and the full historical battle, with options for prepared defenses, alternate arrivals, and free deployment.
