A tabletop roleplaying game set in the 1920s that casts players as Investigators probing strange occurrences tied to the Cthulhu Mythos. Players create characters with occupations, skills and resources, then gather clues, interview witnesses, research arcane sources and attempt to survive encounters with cults, uncanny creatures and cosmic horrors. One player acts as the Keeper, who presents scenarios, controls nonplayer characters and monsters, and adjudicates rules for sanity, magic and Mythos tomes. The boxed set includes separate books for players and Keepers, period reference material, ready scenarios, player sheets, figures and dice so groups can run self-contained mysteries of varying length.
