Men of Iron

Simulation of early 14th-century battles that examines the re-emergence of infantry and the rise of combined-arms tactics, especially the interplay between longbowmen and men-at-arms on defensive ground. Players deploy and maneuver units representing longbows, crossbows, mounted and dismounted men-at-arms, light cavalry, and commanders across historical scenarios; combat resolves with a single die roll and play proceeds continuously rather than in discrete turns, allowing frequent initiative shifts. Includes multiple historical battles, a large counter set, detailed maps, and scenarios designed for both solitaire and head-to-head play with about an hour per battle.
