Pax Baltica: Great Northern War 1700-1721

Two-player strategic block wargame covering the Great Northern War (1700–1721). Players command Swedish and coalition forces across a map stretching from Norway to the Black Sea, using hidden wooden blocks to represent armies, regiments, and fleets whose strength is concealed from the opponent. Action points drive movement, reconnaissance, replacements, sieges, and rolls on a National Politics table; combat emphasizes aggressive, shock-style attacks. Seasonal turns simulate logistics, forage, lines of communication, and attrition, while event and special rules model Russian reforms, Cossack uprisings, Ottoman intervention, Polish politics, and the founding of St. Petersburg. Multiple scenarios include short campaigns and a full grand campaign that plays the entire war.
