Undaunted: Stalingrad

Set during the 1942 battle for the city, players command platoon-level forces in an unfolding campaign across up to fifteen branching scenarios. Players deploy units, play card-driven actions, move across modular map tiles and resolve combat with dice while managing persistent casualties and battlefield conditions that carry between scenarios. Each scenario changes the map and objectives, forcing choices that alter subsequent missions and open alternate narrative paths, while the campaign can be reset and replayed to explore different outcomes. The box includes large numbers of cards, map tiles, tokens, dice and scenario booklets to support the campaign.

Estoy adentrándome en el mundo de los wargames y este es una buena continuación tras Normandy. Juego sencillo con tensión y el modo campaña le da profundidad y envoltura perfecta a las mecánicas.

8+ as standalone games, 6 as a campaign experience (not because the campaign is bad, but the warts in the system become bothersome after frequent sequential plays)

Întrebări despre reguli

Răspunsuri din regulament de la asistentul de reguli Ludoya.

Can I play a Fog of War card on my turn, or get rid of it another way?

You can’t play a Fog of War card during your turn, though you may choose one for initiative. Recon lets you set one aside for the rest of the scenario and draw a card; otherwise, discard it at the end of your turn as usual (p. 13–14).

Can my unit move through a tile I haven’t scouted yet?

No. Move requires every tile entered or passed through to be scouted or controlled by your side. Scout lets you move through unmarked tiles, but you must place a scouted control marker on each one and take a Fog of War card for each marker placed (p. 14).

What can I do with a suppressed unit’s card?

A suppressed unit can’t take card actions. When you play its combat card, you must either ready the unit by flipping it face up or hunker down by returning the card to your supply (p. 13).

If I get a hit with several dice, do I inflict several casualties?

No. An attack inflicts at most one casualty, even if multiple dice succeed; a die showing 0 always succeeds. For a casualty, remove a matching card from the play area first, then hand, discard pile, and deck; if none is available, the unit is routed (p. 15).

Do I need spawn markers, and where does a unit enter the board?

There are no spawn markers. When you play a combat card for a unit not on the board, place it on the same tile as a Rifleman: the matching squad’s Rifleman if the card has a squad designation, or any of your Riflemen otherwise; then perform the action (p. 13).

When does the game end, and do we do anything before packing it away?

A scenario ends when a player achieves their primary objective, causes a Full Rout by routing all the opponent’s Riflemen, or withdraws at the start of their turn. After every game, complete the Campaign Step before packing away the components (p. 17–18).
