World At War 85: Red Lightning

A platoon-level combat game set in an alternate 1985, where Warsaw Pact forces launch invasions across the Arctic Circle. Polish and Soviet marine, parachute, and armored units attack Sweden, Norway, and Iceland, while Scandinavian and NATO defenders attempt to hold their positions. Combat uses opposed die rolls by attacking and defending units, with unit counters providing the information needed to resolve engagements without a combat results table. Initiative, formation activation, variable turn length, close air support, and air cover are integrated into the system.
