Railroad Ink: Engineer Expansion Pack
Adds four special dice that expand the base route-drawing puzzle and introduce new actions for network building. Players roll these Engineer dice alongside the core Route dice each round to reveal Construction, Renovation, Separation, and Special effects that alter how roads and rails are placed on player boards. Construction allows special actions and restructuring of existing lines; Renovation modifies pre-existing routes to add connections; Separation introduces never-connecting segments that increase difficulty; Special enables new kinds of routes with high-scoring potential. Requires at least one copy of the core game or its Challenge edition to use.

Do I roll the expansion die in addition to the four Route dice?
Usually, yes: roll the relevant Expansion die or dice with the four Route dice at the start of each round. The Special and Separation dice are exceptions—they replace a basic white Route die of your choice (p. 1; Separation die, p. 2).
Can I use the Renovation die on any space, or change an Expansion die result?
You may use it only once per round, on a space that already contains a Route and where the Route fits completely within the die’s dotted lines. You can renovate only basic Routes, not Expansion die results; the two dotted-square faces can only add connections to an existing Station (p. 1).
Do I have to use the Special die, and can I still use the Special Routes on my board?
Yes, using the Special die is mandatory, just like using any Route die. You can still use the Special Routes printed at the top of your board (p. 1).
When can I use the Construction die, and can I use its effect more than once?
You may use its effect at any time during the round, but only once per round. Destroy erases a drawn space; Move erases and redraws one in another legal location; Free Placement lets you draw one of the current round’s Routes without connecting it to an existing Route (p. 2).
Can the Construction die affect any Expansion die result?
No. You cannot apply its effects to Expansion dice results, except results from other Engineer Expansion dice (p. 2).
