Railways of Nippon

Players act as railroad entrepreneurs during Japan’s Meiji-era industrial expansion, planning routes, laying track and upgrading locomotives across a narrow, mountainous map. Players move goods between cities, fulfill contracts for income and use operation cards to perform actions while managing a budget that includes bank bonds. Track ownership matters: only a player’s own track can be used to trade, so route placement and anticipating opponents’ moves are important. The game supports 2–4 players and emphasizes network planning, resource management and tactical interaction as players compete to build the most profitable railroad operation.
